Kixchange 2021 at Four Corners Brewery in south Dallas: think good music, mad brews, and wads of cash. Tables filled with shoes and a taproom full of good vibes is all I remember from that night. I joined the Vivid Clue Table for one hell of an experience.
Although I was excited to move product (mainly Nike low dunks), I was pleasantly surprised how chill it was to just vibe behind the table jamming to a heavily early 2000s influenced set by the DJ. We arrived at 4 corners (1411 S. Ervay) around 3pm and found easy parking. Most of the new development in Dallas slows down on S Good Latimer over the i30 expressway. It seems like 4 corners brewery is a pioneer in what is considered Old East South Dallas as it is still surrounded by old warehouses. The main brewery is a large building with beautiful minimalist landscaping, that has big windows that show off the large stainless steel silos situated inside. To the left of the brewery is a smaller building, the Taproom, where Kixchange was hosted for the night.
As soon as you walk In the taproom, you’re greeted by a full bar offering various high alcohol percentage brews as well as food. Behind the bar is the taproom. It’s through large double doors in what seems to be a car garage/hanger converted into an urban taproom. The Kixchange staff (a father son duo) was very welcoming and courteous as they handed us our vendor wrist bands and directed us to our table. Since we were first timers, we made very good use of our 6ft foldable table and filled it to the edges with product. Other vendors brought along additional smaller tables considering how much product they had. One vendor even brought their own lighting which really helped their deadstock kicks standout. Traffic really began to pick up around 6pm and so did the rain! That didn’t stop the crowd from completely filling the venue. There were tons of tables filled with a variety of shoes, clothing, collectibles, and handmade trinkets. A photobooth (Shot by Thrive) was situated near the restroom that was taking print out photos costing around $5-$10. After taking some photos we got hungry. We headed to the bar and managed to purchase 6 tacos, a sizable order of fries, one side and one brew (El Chingon 9%Alc.) for around $25. The taco tortilla was a bit hard but the meat and fries were A1! We couldn’t get enough of the fries that managed to feed around 4 people. Sales on our table really started going around 7pm. I managed to sell some pairs of dunks way over retail, wads of cash were being thrown at my partner as well (@vivid.clue) who was selling rare collectibles, trading cards (Luka Doncic Panini card) , comic books (The Amazing Spider-Man) and very rare clothing like jerseys and hats. Our potential customers had tons of drip; very curious, polite, and aware of market prices. Some even had their own kicks that they were selling or willing to trade. Throughout the event Kixchange raffled over 8 pairs of shoes! $1 donations were exchanged for 1 raffle ticket and one could purchase as many as they wanted. Shoes like Jordan 1s, other retros, and Yeezys were raffled. I lost unfortunately, but the pauses in the Dj set to give away the shoes was always exciting and added an extra vibe to the night.
A couple more El Chingon’s and other staunch IPA’s gave me a great buzz to end the night! We left around 9pm considering our table was looking pretty empty. The venue was still very lively as we packed up our product. We left satisfied and made a profit; considering the $60 per table price. We definitely looking forward to the next Kixchange sometime in 2022!
